Venus Kitchen and Cocktails

Venus Spirits is a local distillery dedicated to the simple integrity of their ingredients. This ethos is precisely what we sought to emulate in the design of their kitchen and cocktail space located on the Westside of Santa Cruz.

The dining area is a lofty space, with a large capacity, so we made sure the Venus branding was integral to the visual experience of the room. At first glance, the viewports looking in on the distillery from the eatery give the impression of being a gallery of photographs, but on closer inspection, they reveal the art of the process behind the product. The use of saturated pastels in the tile and lighting was a deliberate antithesis to their blackened, wood clad speakeasy-style tasting room that we designed 5 years prior. Well placed details such as copper sinks in the restrooms, referencing the copper stills, are the simple yet impactful elements of the design.
