Kind Peoples

Without a doubt the biggest name in cannabis in the county, Kind Peoples reached out to Stripe to design a landmark project: their new flagship store on Ocean Street. The refurbished building not only raises the bar for cannabis retail in California, offering a light, airy and approachable interior, it also serves as a much needed upgrade to this important traffic corridor in Santa Cruz.

After several weeks of extensive research into best business practices, Stripe presented a concept centered around ocean scenery, light wood, and well-lit cases. A strong backdrop of a backlit slatted wall, reminiscent of the agricultural crop fields in the surrounding areas, is a gentle nod to the crop while avoiding the ubiquitous leaf motif. Replacing the idea of security with a welcome vestibule, introducing friendly, product-savvy floor staff, and displaying product like a well-appointed health food store, all contribute to the elevated and accessible experience.
